##### Where did it all begin?

In 2008, [Jack Newton](https://www.clio.com/about/team/jack-newton/) and his lifelong friend Rian Gauvreau co-founded Clio. Jack brought a deep background in software engineering and a conviction that the cloud would reshape legal work. Some say never mix business with friends, but nearly two decades later, Clio is the global leader in legal AI—so we think the bet paid off.
